AKC URBAN CANINE GOOD CITIZEN
UCGC is a certification program designed like CGC, but takes place outside with more distractions around. The program is to reward dogs that have good manners in the community. Dogs that pass the test receive a certificate and are recorded in the AKC's UCGC Archive.
Up to 8 million animals end up in the shelter every year and only 15-20% of them are ever reclaimed. During this painless procedure, a needle is used to place a chip under the dog's skin, that has a unique number that can be picked up by a scanner. The procedure takes less than a minute and you can rest assured knowing should your pet ever get lost, you have taken the precaution to bring him home.
